Tham gia Cuộc thi viết luận tiếng Anh - Essay Contest - €100

Ngày 26/02/2010 Nhà trường đã nhận được công văn của Phòng Thương mại nước Cộng hòa Slovakia tại Việt Nam về việc tổ chức cuộc thi viết bằng tiếng Anh với các chủ đề về giáo dục và kinh tế. Cuộc thi là một trong những hoạt động thuộc dự án phát triển Việt Nam của Chính phủ Slovakia nhằm phát triển sự đổi mới trong việc đào tạo kinh doanh và kinh tế cho giáo viên các trường Trung học, sinh viên cao đẳng, đại học, giáo viên đại học tại Việt Nam, xây dựng mối quan hệ đối tác bền vững giữa các tổ chức hoạt động trong lĩnh vực giáo dục của Slovalia và Việt Nam.

Nội dung cuộc thi viết bao gồm:

1. Chủ đề viết bằng tiếng Anh: Giáo dục và chất lượng cuộc sống; Giáo dục và kinh tế; Giáo dục và toàn cầu hóa.
2. Hình thức dự thi: Bài dự thi viết bằng tiếng Anh chọn 1 trong 3 chủ đề trên (từ 500 đến 1000 từ). Bài dự thi gửi về Ban tổ chức trước ngày 17/3/2010 qua các địa chỉ email sau: srir_htc@rediffmail.com; khanh_hut@yahoo.com; và matus.posvanc@hayek.sk
3. Đối tượng dự thi:
- Cán bộ, giáo viên Nhà trường (chưa quá 35 tuổi) có đủ năng lực và trình độ ngoại ngữ tiếng Anh.
- Sinh viên Nhà trường có năng lực ngoại ngữ tiếng Anh, yêu thích nghiên cứu và giảng dạy kinh tế trong tương lai.
4. Cuộc thi bao gồm 02 vòng:
4.1 Vòng 1: Chọn ra 20 ứng viên có bài viết tốt về các chủ đề nói trên. Trong 20 ứng viên sẽ chọn ra 10 ứng viên có bài viết tốt nhất để trao thưởng như sau:

4.2 Vòng 2: 20 ứng viên được chọn ở vòng 1 sẽ được mời tham dự hội nghị chuyên đề được tổ chức tại Việt Nam vào giữa tháng 4 năm 2010. Người tham dự hội nghị được hoàn toàn miễn phí: việc ăn ở, sách học tập, một phần chi phí giáo thông đi lại. Kết thúc khóa học sẽ chọn ra 03 ứng viên xuất sắc nhất, nhận học bổng tham gia khóa học kinh tế ngắn hạn tại Slovakia vào tháng 7 và tháng 8 (người nhận được học bổng sẽ được chu cấp miễn phí visa, vé máy bay, ăn ở, giao thông cũng như tài liệu học tập khi học tập tại Slovakia).
5. Thời gian thực hiện:
- Thời gian nhận bài viết: trước ngày 17/03/2010.
- Thông báo kết quả: cuối tháng 3/2010
- Hội nghị chuyên đề tại Việt Nam: giữa tháng 4/2010
- Khóa học kinh tế ngắn hạn tại Slovakia: tháng 7 và tháng 8/2010

Learn English Pronunciation - It's A "Piece of Cake"

'The test is a piece of cake.'

The study of pronunciation consists of two fields, namely phonetics and phonology.

Phonetics refer to the study of speech sounds. Phonetics (from the Greek: φωνή, phōnē, "sound, voice", pronounced /fɵˈnɛtɨks/) is a branch of linguistics that comprises the study of the sounds of human speech. It is concerned with the physical properties of speech sounds (phones), and their physiological production, auditory perception, and neurophysiological status.

Phonetic transcription is a universal system for transcribing sounds that occur in spoken language. The most widely known system of phonetic transcription, the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), uses a one-to-one mapping between phones and written symbols.


In contrast to phonetics, phonology is the study of how sounds and gestures pattern in and across languages, relating such concerns with other levels and aspects of language. Phonetics deals with the articulatory and acoustic properties of speech sounds, how they are produced, and how they are perceived.




If phonetics deals with the physical reality of speech sounds, then phonology, on the other hand, is primarily concerned with how we interpret and systematize sounds. Phonology deals with the system and pattern of the sounds which exists within particular languages.




The study of the phonology of English looks at the vowels, consonants and suprasegmental features of the language.
